Skeleton Cupcakes

Skeleton Cupcakes are always a fun project in my kitchen during Halloween. I start with a simple chocolate cupcake as the base, which is perfect for holding up the spooky skeleton on top. Each skeleton is made from white chocolate or fondant, and I have a blast arranging them to look like they’re lounging or even rising from the grave. My kids love helping with this part—they always manage to give the skeletons a bit of personality! To complete the look, I sprinkle some crushed chocolate cookies around to mimic dirt and add a few candy bones. It’s like setting up a mini graveyard, and the results are as playful as they are spooky.
Vampire Coffin Cupcakes

Vampire Coffin Cupcakes bring a touch of eerie elegance to my Halloween lineup. These cupcakes are topped with fondant coffins that look like they belong in a classic horror movie. I like to get a bit creative by adding a little red jelly inside the coffin, so when it’s opened, there’s a surprise “blood” filling. It’s a simple trick, but it always gets a reaction! I usually display these on a dark serving board with a few plastic vampire fangs and maybe some faux roses for an extra gothic feel. They make a striking centerpiece, and they’re as fun to make as they are to eat.
Witch’s Cauldron Cupcakes

Witch’s Cauldron Cupcakes are always a crowd-pleaser, especially with the kids. Each cupcake is topped with green frosting that spills over the sides, just like a bubbling potion. I like to add candy eyes, bones, and tiny frog candies to the mix, giving it that extra witchy touch. For the final effect, a sprinkle of green popping candy on top makes it look like the cauldron is actually bubbling. I usually display these on a dark, rustic surface with some old-looking spellbook pages and tiny potion bottles to really set the scene. They’re not just cupcakes—they’re a little bit of Halloween magic on a plate.
Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cupcakes

Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cupcakes bring a touch of the pumpkin patch right to your dessert table. I start with a base of crumbled chocolate cookies to create the “dirt” on top of the cupcakes. Then, I add small pumpkin-shaped candies or fondant pumpkins, along with green frosting vines that wrap around them. For a fun twist, I sometimes tuck in a few candy worms peeking out from the dirt—it’s a detail that never fails to get a laugh. I like to display these on a wooden board with a few scattered autumn leaves, making it feel like a mini pumpkin patch. They’re simple, festive, and perfect for any Halloween gathering.
Zombie Brain Explosion Cupcakes

Zombie Brain Explosion Cupcakes are a bit of a gruesome treat, but that’s what makes them so perfect for Halloween. The top of each cupcake is carefully decorated with frosting to look like a detailed brain. But the real fun comes when you bite into it—there’s a hidden red jelly filling that oozes out like blood! I usually arrange these on a dark, distressed surface with some splatters of red icing and a few scattered plastic bones and skulls. They definitely add a creepy factor to the dessert table, and they’re always a hit with anyone who loves a good Halloween scare.

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes made out of fondant bring the festive charm of a pumpkin patch to your dessert table. Each cupcake is topped with a fondant pumpkin, crafted with realistic ridges and a tiny green vine. The vibrant orange pumpkins sit atop a chocolate or vanilla cupcake, creating a striking contrast. To complete the look, I add a little fondant stem and twisty vines for extra detail. The process is simple: roll orange fondant into balls, add ridges, and place them on a fondant-covered cupcake base. These cupcakes look great displayed on a rustic board with scattered leaves. They’re a perfect mix of festive and tasty, sure to be a hit at any Halloween gathering.
Spider Web Cupcakes

Spider Web Cupcakes add an eerie yet elegant touch to my Halloween spread. Each cupcake is topped with a delicate spider web made from spun sugar or caramel, which is easier to create than it looks. To finish, I place a small chocolate or sugar spider on the web, giving it that perfect Halloween creepiness. I like to display these on a dark background with a few cobwebs and mini pumpkins nearby, creating a spooky yet sophisticated atmosphere. These cupcakes strike the right balance between creepy and stylish, making them a great choice for both kids and adults.
Haunted Forest Cupcakes

Haunted Forest Cupcakes bring a bit of dark, mysterious magic to Halloween. I top each cupcake with twisted chocolate trees that look like they’ve come straight out of a haunted forest. The base is covered in mossy green frosting, and I like to hide tiny edible bats and ghosts among the branches. For an added touch, I sometimes sprinkle a bit of edible smoke or mist around the base to give a foggy, eerie effect. I display these on a rustic wooden board with some scattered leaves and tiny lanterns to really bring the haunted forest scene to life. They’re as much a visual treat as they are a tasty one.
Monster Mashup Cupcakes

Monster Mashup Cupcakes are where creativity really gets to shine. Each cupcake is inspired by classic Halloween monsters, but with a twist—like a Dracula cupcake with Frankenstein’s bolts or a mummy with vampire fangs. I love mixing and matching features to create these playful, colorful characters. The kids have a blast helping me come up with new combinations every year. These cupcakes are perfect for a lively Halloween party, especially when displayed with fun decorations like mini pumpkins, candy eyeballs, and bones. They’re lighthearted, fun, and a great way to get everyone in the Halloween spirit.
Monster Eye Cupcakes

Monster Eye Cupcakes are always a big hit at my Halloween parties, especially because they have that perfect mix of creepy and cool. Each cupcake is topped with a large fondant eyeball, complete with bloodshot veins made from red icing. I go the extra mile to make sure the eyeball has a glossy finish, which gives it an eerily realistic look. I usually set these on a surface that looks like a lab, with scattered vials and a few dripping candles. They create a spooky, horror-movie vibe that guests can’t resist, and they’re just as delicious as they are unsettling!
Bat Cave Cupcakes

Bat Cave Cupcakes are a must-have for any Halloween celebration. These cupcakes are topped with rich chocolate frosting that forms the entrance to a dark, mysterious cave. Tiny edible bats seem to be flying out, and I sprinkle some black edible glitter to give the cave a shimmering, spooky look. I like to display these on a dark, rocky surface with a few small stones and moss, which really makes it feel like a hidden bat cave. They’re both delicious and visually striking, making them a standout on the dessert table.
Ghostly S’mores Cupcakes

Ghostly S’mores Cupcakes are a fun and tasty nod to the classic campfire treat, with a Halloween twist. Each cupcake is topped with a toasted marshmallow ghost, complete with spooky eyes and mouth, sitting on a bed of chocolate frosting and graham cracker crumbs. To really capture the campfire feel, I like to arrange these around a mini “campfire” with glowing embers and scattered graham crackers. They bring a cozy, spooky vibe to the dessert table, making them a perfect treat for a Halloween gathering with friends and family.
Halloween Mummy Muffins

Halloween Mummy Muffins are a spooky and delightful treat perfect for the season! These soft, moist muffins are wrapped in “bandages” of creamy frosting, with candy eyes peeking out to create an adorable mummy effect. The combination of the rich muffin base and the sweet frosting makes them as delicious as they are fun. Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party or just want a festive treat, these mummy muffins are sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike. Plus, they’re easy to make and customize to your favorite flavors.
Spider Nest Cupcakes

Spider Nest Cupcakes are not for the faint of heart, but they’re always a hit with those who love a good Halloween scare. Each cupcake is topped with a mound of frosting that looks like a spider’s nest, covered in wispy spun sugar or cotton candy to mimic a web. Tiny chocolate spiders crawl out from the nest, and I usually scatter a few baby spiders around for added creepiness. I display these in a dark, shadowy setting with cobwebs and leaves, creating a spine-tingling atmosphere that’s perfect for Halloween. They’re as creepy as they are delicious, making them an unforgettable treat.
Blood Moon Cupcakes

Blood Moon Cupcakes are my way of bringing a little bit of Halloween night sky to the dessert table. Each red velvet cupcake is topped with a marbled swirl of black and deep red frosting, imitating the eerie glow of a blood moon. A sprinkle of edible glitter adds a starry effect, and I top each cupcake with a small sugar moon that seems to glow softly. These cupcakes look especially striking when arranged against a dark backdrop with a few wisps of fog and scattered stars. They capture the mystical and haunting beauty of a blood moon night, making them a beautiful and delicious addition to any Halloween celebration.
Vampire Bite Halloween Cupcakes

Vampire Bite Halloween Cupcakes bring a deliciously sinister twist to your spooky celebrations. These eerie cupcakes are decorated to resemble a vampire’s bite, complete with two fang marks made from red icing that drips like fresh “blood.” The cupcakes themselves are rich and decadent, with a hidden filling that oozes out when you take a bite, adding to the chilling effect. Is there any available link to the blood moon cupcakes?
Hi Deanna! Thanks for your interest! 😊 The link for the Blood Moon Cupcakes isn’t available just yet, but it will be coming soon. Stay tuned! 🌕🧁
Hi – how would you create the fog on the forest cupcake?
Hi Kristin! To create the fog effect, you can use a bit of dry ice in a small dish near the cupcakes for that spooky fog look, but make sure to handle it safely! Alternatively, a fog machine set on low can give the same eerie effect. Hope that helps! 🎃👻
How did you make the chocolate trees for the Haunted Forest cupcakes? Did you pipe them? How to get the stripey effect on the trunks?
Hi Barbara,
To create these haunting fondant trees, start by tinting some fondant black. Roll the fondant into thin, rope-like strips. Twist these strips to form gnarled branches and trunks, ensuring each has a distinct, eerie bend. Optional – for the striped effect on the trunks, lightly brush alternate stripes with edible silver dust. Allow the trees to dry so they harden and maintain their shape. Once dry, they can be anchored into your frosted cupcakes. Hope that helps:)
Do you have a recipe for the ghostly smore
Hi Brittany!
I don’t have a recipe for ghostly s’mores cupcakes on the website yet, but I’d love to help you whip up a batch. Start with your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe as the base like here – https://emmascakestudio.com/christmas-desserts/winter-wonderland-chocolate-cupcakes-with-snowflake-buttercream/
Once they’re baked and cooled, top them with a swirl of vanilla buttercream. For the ghostly effect, place a marshmallow on top, and lightly toast it with a kitchen torch to give it that spooky look. Use chocolate chips or edible candy eyes for the ghost’s eyes. Finally, sprinkle some crushed graham crackers around the base for that classic s’more flavor.
Enjoy!
Do you have a link for the recipe of the blood moon on the blood moon cupcakes?
Hi Becky! That topper was actually made using a simple technique with black fondant and a touch of edible red and orange petal dust to mimic the lunar look. I used a small round cutter, then gently blended the colors with a dry food-safe brush to get that glowing effect. I don’t have a separate recipe post for it yet, but I can walk you through the steps if you’d like to try it. It’s easier than it looks 🌕
I’d love a tutorial on making the blood moon fondant toppers, they are gorgeous 😍
Thanks Taylor! I used black fondant and brushed on red and orange petal dust to get that glow — then added a bit of edible shimmer to finish it off. I’ll put together a tutorial soon, but happy to help if you want to try it now 🌕
